Happy (Very Belated) New Year

Happy (Very Belated) New Year

Hey friends. Apologies for seemingly falling off the face of the earth since my last post!

A quick recap of the last month plus’ activities:

We spent most of December in Nashville. Our good friends Ben (also originally from SD, but don’t tell anyone) & Katherine have an RV port at their house, which was obviously very awesome. Plus they are very awesome. We’ve got some other very awesome friends who call Nashville home, and much fun was had with all. There is a lot to be said about Nashville, but trying to keep this brief so… Top two favorites spots in town: Dino’s (best burger dive bar) and Pearl Diver (dangerously delicious tiki bar). Very different vibes, but would be hard not to have a good time in either. Overall I really dig Nashville. Two thumbs up. Oh and yes we went to a Honkey Tonk: Robert’s Western World. It was cool. As Ben says, no where does fake cowboy better than Nashville.

Justin had work back in NYC for a couple weeks mid December, so I decided to fly up with Kewpie and stay with him at his AirBnB in Bushwick for a while. Bushwick was and is my favorite part of BK, and it was fun to visit, but still pretty confident we made the right choice for us in moving. Maybe its just having been out of the city for a while, but it felt super crowded, more so than it had before. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to space. (Lolz, minus the whole living in an RV thing). Ben and Katherine came up for a weekend to celebrate our December bb birthdays. We saw Parquet Courts (faves) at Hammerstein Ballroom and karaoked in K-Town. I met up with old friends and had all the eats and drinks. I still love you NY.

After New York it was back to Nashville for a bit, then over to Sanger, Texas, where we stayed on an Alpaca farm! Friendly reminder: Alpaca are stupid adorable. Like I just want to squish their dumb cute faces. Why are cute/adorable things dumb/stupid? Life’s a mystery. Anyhow we stayed in Sanger due to it’s proximity to Dallas - which is one of the few cities with direct flights back to good ol’ Rapid City, South Dakota. We had promised my parents we’d do our best to make it back for Christmas, which we did. It was a quick trip but worth it to spend the holiday with fam.

Then it was back to Texas and relatively warmer weather. Sanger is also located near Plano, which may be our next new home, due to the fact that they have a Mitsuwa!!! Plus H Mart, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar and hot pot options. Feeling inspired, we celebrated NYE with hot pot in the RV. Freezing temperatures and a rain storm were due the day we’d planned to leave, so we bounced early on Jan 1st and made our way to Austin.

Austin has been very chill, which was our goal after a crazy-all-over-the-place-eat-and-drink-our-faces-off December. So now I’m embracing that as my goal for 2019: Be Chill.
